The Children’s Hospital at Montefiore received more than 30 grants from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in 2022, totaling more than $15.1 million—a 20% increase since 2020. Included in that total are 22 R01 grants, which provide funding and support for health-related research and development based on the mission of the NIH and are considered the gold standard of NIH research awards.
“Many adult diseases have childhood origins, and the NIH understands that we need more research to understand how early pediatric interventions can improve health outcomes,” said Michael D. Cabana, MD, MPH, Physician-in-Chief, Children’s Hospital at Montefiore, Professor, Pediatrics, and the Michael I. Cohen, MD, University Chair, Albert Einstein College of Medicine.
