Congratulations to Ulrich Steidl, MD, PhD, Professor, Cell Biology, Oncology and Medicine, Albert Einstein College of Medicine, on his appointment as Chair of the Department of Cell Biology at Einstein.
Dr. Steidl’s strong focus on research helped him make key contributions to the understanding of myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS) and acute myeloid leukemia (AML), two related blood diseases. His work led to the discovery, study and therapeutic targeting of disease-driving stem cells in blood cancers. He received the 2021 Outstanding Investigator Award from the National Cancer Institute as well the 2019 Scholar CDP Achievement Award of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and the National Institutes of Health’s (NIH) Howard Temin Award. Dr. Steidl currently serves as President of the International Society for Experimental Hematology (ISEH).
