Montefiore Einstein welcomes Lanny T. Di Franza, MD, who joins Montefiore Einstein as the Director of the Renal Pathology Laboratory.
In this role, Dr. Di Franza will help manage the immunofluorescence and electron microscopy laboratories, oversee equipment maintenance, lead research initiatives and support renal diagnostics for the Nephrology Departments at White Plains Hospital and Westchester Medical Center. He also will work to foster interdepartmental conferences between the Nephrology and Cardiology divisions. As a fellowship-trained pathologist with expertise in cardiac pathology, Dr. Di Franza works with the Montefiore Einstein Nephrology Division and the renal and cardiac transplantation programs.
Dr. Di Franza’s research focuses on kidney transplantation, diseases affecting native and transplanted kidneys, and the intricate interplay between the immune system and kidney diseases. He has received several honors, including a prestigious Stowell-Orbison Award at the 2023 United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology (USCAP) meeting for his research. He is also an Assistant Professor of Pathology at Albert Einstein College of Medicine.
