The Tour de Bronx, the largest free bicycle event in New York State, returns for its 28th annual outing on Sunday, October 23. If riding’s not your thing, you can still get involved by volunteering at the event.
Montefiore Einstein has been proud to support the event for more than a decade and will be on-site to provide free giveaways and information about our state-of-the-art services and facilities. We are also proud of our very own Montefiore Einstein cyclists who have participated in this event for many years.
The 25-mile ride starts from Bronx Borough Hall and ends at the New York Botanical Garden. The route includes two planned rest stops offering fruit, water and other healthy drinks. A live band will perform at the end of the course. Please register here.
The Tour de Bronx is a unique way of touring the Bronx’s burgeoning neighborhoods, scenic waterfronts and greenways while also promoting bicycling as a healthy and environment-friendly mode of transportation. It is produced by the Office of the Bronx Borough President, Vanessa L. Gibson, and the Bronx Tourism Council in partnership with Transportation Alternatives, a bicycling and pedestrian advocacy group.
In addition to the 25-mile ride, cyclists can participate at their own time and pace with self-guided, 10-mile and 40-mile rides. All registered participants receive a T-shirt. Those without their own bicycles can rent one at Unlimited Biking for Tour De Bronx Bike Rentals. The event is limited to 1,000 registered riders.
Event volunteers are needed to help carry chairs, tables and water; assist with crowd control; and set up signage and supplies. They will receive a T-shirt and a certificate for their efforts. More information for volunteers is available via RJames@BOEDC.org or iLovetheBronx.org.
Riders can use the hashtag #TDBX22 to follow along on social media.
