Andy Lim, PharmD, Postgraduate Year 2 Infectious Diseases (PGY2 ID) Pharmacy Residency Program, Montefiore Einstein, was honored with the Clinical Pharmacy Research Award by the New York State Council of Health-System Pharmacists Research and Education Foundation. The prestigious award recognizes outstanding achievements in health system pharmacy advocacy.
Dr. Lim was selected for his research in progress (RIP) project entitled, “Evaluation of Appropriate Antibiotic Prescribing Following Modification of Culture & Susceptibility Cascade for High-Risk AmpC Producing Gram-Negative Bacteria.” Our research led to a nearly 40% increase in the appropriate prescribing of antibiotics, from 62% to 86%. Patients were more likely to have their antibiotics changed to appropriate treatment and less likely to be started on inappropriate treatment.
