The Montefiore Einstein Headache Squad raised more than $1,000 at the Miles for Migraine–NYC 2022 event on September 17. The second annual 2-Mile Walk–5K Run–Relax event in Flushing Meadows drew 10 teams, including Montefiore Einstein’s 16-member squad. Combined, the teams raised more than $10,000 for the nonprofit.
The Headache Squad was sponsored by the Montefiore Einstein Headache Center and led by Elizabeth K. Seng-Tamaccio, PhD. Proceeds from the event will go toward local migraine research and fellowship training programs at Montefiore Einstein and Mount Sinai headache centers as well as to programs that help destigmatize the neurological disease.
Participants had the option of walking two miles, running five kilometers or relaxing with an intentional movement of their choice. They also had a chance to connect with the local migraine and headache community, hear from speakers and visit sponsors.
More than just a headache, migraines are a neurological condition that combines pain with other symptoms to disrupt people’s lives. The American Migraine Foundation estimates that at least 39 million Americans live with migraines.
